Pour le meilleur et pour le pire...

This marks my 500th post on this blog.  Cheers to that!
Now before any bridezillas start b*tching at me, this post just reflects my point of view, don't take anything personally ;)   I am excited to attend a wedding this June (1st time I attend a wedding outside of my family) so I'm doing a bit of homework on wedding photography!

Bleubird's whimsy vintage-inspired wedding

Some DIY ideas from Ruche :)   Love the idea of reusing cans and wine bottles!

Having a talented photographer will make all the difference.  Here's a picture from lovely Joanna's blog

I kind of like these "bride's big day preparations" pictures.  Especially when it takes place in the bride's childhood room with a few of her best friends and sisters tearing up lol.

Do I even need to present this girl?.... the cherryblossom girl

What are your thoughts on themed weddings?  I guess you can't go wrong with the inspiration from the movie UP :)  wrap it up with a ride in a mongolfiere (hot balloon?)   can't find the source for these pics.

mmmmm a simple and sweet garden wedding (with a giant pool please), old movies and cushions all over the lawn.... so tempting.

Here comes the gay part; I have enough pictures to make a part II to this post.   If anyone is willing to finance my next Canon 5D mark II, I'm seriously considering reorienting my career into wedding industry (euh Pat, wedding planner, je compte sur toi).

We're back in 1998 when Leo was still hot

When Titanic first came out in theatres, I was ten years old.  I don't know about kids nowadays but I was ten old years I was completely clueless about intimacy between two human beings, and it was probably the furthest thing from my mind back then.

Watching this movie in the theatres with my parents was a mindblowing and traumatizing experience.  I'm sure you know what I'm talking about!  Yes during this particular DRAWING scene, I turned my head frantically to see the people around me whether someone would cover my eyes or "turn off the screen", it was simply beyond awkward and embarassing to see Kate Winslet's boobies with my parents on my side.  I mean it's still embarassing to watch a bed scene with your parents around, so imagine when you were 10... />
Kate Winslet is so perfect in this scene, I think any bum artist would have died happily after being able to draw a girl like that.

Right now I'm so excited to watch Titanic again, after 14 years!!! No matter how cheesy it is, it will certainly remain one of the most memorable movies of my prepubescent days. I'm ready to watch it again, without covering my eyes at the drawing scene nor panicking at the STEAMY HAND IN CAR SCENE (I thought Jack was murdering Rose and got so scared)

What are your thoughts on this movie? Do you remember when you first watched it? And did any of you understand the car scene or was I the only retarded one?

Lo-li-ta

I've been cleaning up my external hard drive (yes yes even the external drive is running out of space for my mess) and I found this "film captures" folder ; vestiges d'une époque où je prenais plaisir à prendre des captures d'écran de films que j'aimais... et très sérieusement par-dessus ça, avec autant de sérieux qu'un photographe qui attend le moment parfait!

Comme vous pouvez le constater, mon obsession pour le livre de Lolita a quand même fait long feu!  Bon, à présent, voici les captures de films que j'ai faites en 2006:

Disclaimers : 1- I'm not a pedobear nor do I encourage pedobears    2- These stills belong to the 1997 Lolita movie directed by Adrian Lyne.

Just thinking about the book's ending makes me tear up a little...

Provence

warning : very cheesy content ahead...

Have you watched the movie A Good Year with Russell Crowe and Marion Cotillard? Very lovely film about a typical a**hole in finance who inherits a castle and wineyard in Provence, mais vous savez déjà ce qu'un endroit paradisiaque (et une belle fille) peut avoir comme influence sur votre caractère...

drooling at the food.

This is a remake of an adaptation of a very popular romance novel back in the 1970s in China. I can't believe I finished the entire show a few summers ago. It's a delicate mix of very bad acting, fake & robotic dialogues that give you goosebumps, beautiful scenery, and a love story between a very selfish girl with an IQ of about a tomato and an older rich-sophisticated-retardedly nice man. Of course the best part of this cool series was the scenes shot in Provence. Just try to watch the intro without puking :)

oldschool summer ...

This song is at least 5-6 years old but it's one of my favorite summer songs ever :)   I can't remember which summer it reminds me of exactly, I heard it too many times haha.  Hands down, this is Gwen Stefani's best single.    Don't pay attention to the guy in the video's gigantic alien-like forehead.

ITALY. VACATION. NOW.

okay je vous jure que je vous laisse tranquille après

Honestly I didn't even watch the wedding, but wow did they look happy!

dressed like a BAWWSS

Will oh Will...
anyways the real point of my post was to share this song with you. I started listening to Adele about two years ago, and I've heard many versions of this Bob Dylan's song, but no one can surpass Adele's cover. Beautiful words sang by the most beautiful voice.

I'm so happy she's finally getting the recognition she deserves!  I find it hard to believe that she's only 22, as there is such maturity in her voice.  everything she sings is so heartfelt...

Excuse me but I think I have something in my eye.

my idea of an ideal date

A handsome dark-haired skinny boy with an infinite music/book culture.

I think librairies, bookstores and record stores are a great place for two people to connect!
